Les Brown Jr. and the Band of Renown Kick Off
2005 Season with a Surprise Visitor
Les Brown Jr. and the Band of Renown began the 2005 Branson season with a surprise performance at BransonFest by
Deana Martin, daughter of singer Dean Martin.
For ten seasons, Les Brown Sr. and the Band of Renown provided the music
for Dean Martin's TV variety show. Les Brown Jr. led the band for Deana's
recent concert tour in Florida. "Deana was in town during BransonFest
and wanted to return the favor," said Les Brown Jr. "Continuing
the tradition of the Martin and Brown families working together was a
treat for
everyone." Dean Martin is currently touring the country in support of
her book "Memories Are Made of This," a view of Dean Martin
through his daughter's eyes. (www.deanamartin.com)
The Band of Renown's regular season began on April
16th, with new treats and old favorites.
Singing impressionist Bob
Anderson returns for the 2005 season with his amazing recreations of
performances by great singers like Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, and Tom
Jones.
Jana
King Evans has joined the show as the female vocalist. Jana first
performed with the Band of Renown at the Opening Ceremonies of the
Veteran's Homecoming Celebration (see below) in the Fall of 2004. Jana has
a long and successful career as singer, working with stars that include
Johnny Cash, Garth Brooks, Neil Diamond and Tom Jones. You may also
recognize her voice from the State Farm Insurance jingle ("Like a
good neighbor..."), and from her performances in Pam Tillis' show in
Branson. Jana has country music in her blood, but you'll find that her
sultry performances of the standards are an unforgettable pleasure.
Show time is now 2pm, with performances on Wednesday through Sunday from
April through July. Call the theater at 417-334-3210 or 800-334-3210-6696 for reservations and
information.
