About The Song 'Joltin' Joe DiMaggio'

Heard in Ken Burn's 'Baseball' documentary on PBS, the song 'Joltin' Joe DiMaggio' (
listen) was written in 1941 and recorded in 1942 (after the recording ban ended).

The lyrics were written by Ben Homer and "deejay" Alan Courtney. Clarinetist Abe Most provides the voice of Joe DiMaggio, Ralph Young  is the umpire calling the strikes, and Betty Bonney sings the lyrics.
